1464204 Making pistons; rolling MAHLE GmbH 23 July 1975 [24 July 1974] 30778/75 Headings B3A and B3M A process in the production of internal combustion engine pistons 2, particularly those of light metal, for widening the end zones of the pin hub bores nearest to the centre of the pistons, with the use of a rolling mandrel 4, 5, including cylindrical pressure rollers 5, in which the position of piston 2 and mandrel 4, 5 is such that rollers 5 are initially on the smaller diameter portion of shaft 3 and are pushed to the left so that rollers 5 move up conical portion A of shaft 3 thus tilting, and widening the end zone of the bore at an angle to the bore axis. The piston 2 is of aluminium.
