Abstract

146,373. Optische Anstalt C. P. Goerz Akt.-Ges. July 22, 1916, [Convention date]. Periscopes.-In an extensible and rotatable periscope having an eyepiece which does not participate in the pulling-out movement, the extensible tube 1 of the instrument is mounted in a closed casing 3 fitted with a rotatable cap 4 carrying the eyepiece 5, the cap being so connected to the tube as to rotate therewith, whereas the elevating-parts, mounted in the casing, do not turn with the tube. The raising is effected by a slidable but non-rotatable ring 6 which engages with the foot 12 of the tube and is carried by chains or ropes 7 adapted to be driven from a motor 11. To alter the horizontal adjustment of the instrument, the cap 4 is turned. The engagement of the cap with a pinion 13 causes the rotation of a shaft 15 and of a pinion 14 which is in permanent mesh with teeth on the foot 12. The extending and rotating adjustments can be effected simultaneously.
