Jackets and covers.-The tread 12 and side walls 13 of a tyre cover are treated before being superposed on the fabric foundation by 'being placed as shown in Fig. 4, and sheared on the lines X-X so as to have clean cut edges. The strips 13 are unfolded with their cut edges as a pivot, as shown in Fig. 6, and the edges are pressed together, as shown in Fig. 7, to form a butt joint.
