1463379 Modular units for furniture frames CARTER DESIGN GROUP Ltd 2 July 1975 [2 July 1974] 29185/74 Headings A4H and A4U [Also in Divisions F3-4] A modular unit for use in forming table underframes, wall-mounted shelf brackets, lighting units, display columns, is formed from solid or hollow rod stock and comprises a pair of open square frames ABCD and EFGH, one larger than the other, in parallel planes spaced apart by a perpendicular distance equal to half the length of the side of the larger frame, each corner of the smaller frame being held perpendicularly over the mid-point of a side of the larger frame by struts AF, FD, DE, EC, CH, HB, BG, GA connecting the frames by their corners. The unit may be formed in separate metal parts welded together. Two or more units may be connected together by clips securing adjacent frame sides or struts. Two or more units may be formed in one piece.
