Abstract
1463353 Surfactant-solvent compositions ALLIED CHEMICAL CORP 11 April 1974 [16 April 1973] 16372/74 Heading C5D Cleaning compositions, especially suitable in the solvent cleaning of machine parts, textiles and glass, comprise (i) as a detergent component, 0À2-91% by weight, based on the weight of the composition, of a mixture of isopropylamine salts of linear (C 7 -C 14 alkyl) benzenesulphonic acids, a predominant amount of the sulphonic acid salts having linear alkyl groups containing 11 or 12 carbon atoms, and 19-24 numerical per cent of the sulphonic acid salts having the benzene sulphonate substituent at the 2-position of the linear alkyl group and (ii) as a solvent component, at least 9% by weight, based on the weight of the composition, of an organic solvent which is an aliphatic hydrocarbon of a halogenated aliphatic hydrocarbon having a boiling point of 20-200 C. The compositions emulsify with water to form water-in-oil emulsions and may be used in emulsion form or diluted with conventional dry-cleaning solvents. The compositions may contain minor amounts of other detergents (e.g. polyethoxylated phenols, alkali metal salts of complex polyphosphoric ester acid anhydrides, ethoxylated alcohol sulphates and alpha olefin sulphonates), textile lubricants, brightening agents, water-proofing agents and other conventional adjuvants.
