Abstract

146,311. Krupp Akt.-Ges., F. Jan. 6, 1915, [Convention date]. Exciting.-To obtain rapid excitation and regulation of a continuous-current generator, particularly in a Ward-Leonard system, the generator A has, in addition to the main exciting winding B connected with a separate source D and a winding F traversed by the armature current or a portion thereof, a third exciting-winding H connected with the secondary winding J<1> of a transformer, the primary winding J of which is joined to the contacts of the reversing switch C for the winding B. The winding H assists the winding B at the instant when the latter is connected by the switch C to the source D, and opposes the winding B when the latter is disconnected from the source D. The motor E has a separately-excited winding E<1> and its speed is regulated by means of a variable resistance G in circuit with the winding B. The primary winding of the transformer may be arranged in series with the winding B. The transformer windings may be mounted on the yoke or other part of the magnet frame of the generator, which thus serves as the transformer core. Specification 4283/12 is referred to.
