Abstract

1462525 Making anti-theft devices BELL PRODUCTS Ltd 23 Jan 1975 [19 Feb 1974] 7635/74 Heading B3A [Also in Division B7] A fuel tank anti-siphoning device comprises a hub portion with outwardly extending arms, alternate arms being in opposite axial directions, which are resiliently deformable towards the hub axis. The device may be of metal, the arms being bent from a flat blank, or of moulded nylon. One set of arms has pressed out parts formed with apertures which are engaged by a removable key passed through a central hub aperture when the arms are bent inwardly. With the arms held in by the key the device is inserted into the tank filler tube and then the key is withdrawn. The outward reassertion of the arms causes them to engage the tube walls. Other embodiments having a different number of arms and fuel inlet apertures in arms are described (Figs. 5-7, not shown). In a further embodiment a member having only one set of arms may be fitted to the device. Filamentary material may be attached to the arms to increase the anti-siphoning capability.
