Abstract
1462341 Localised erasure of latent images LAMSON INDUSTRIES Ltd 11 Feb 1975 [14 Feb 1974] 5759/75 Heading G2H A process for the erasure of latent electrostatic images contained on the dielectric surface of a dielectric recording member consists in the following steps:- (1) contacting the latent-image-bearing surface of the dielectric recording member with the coated surface of an erasing tissue, this coated surface comprising a microcapsular layer in which the microcapsules contain at least one volatile liquid having an evaporation rate at least as fast as toluene, (2) applying pressure to cause localized rupture of the microcapsules to release the volatile liquid in contact with the latent image on the dielectric surface, (3) removing the erasing tissue from contact with the dielectric surface and (4) allowing the volatile liquid transferred to the dielectric surface to evaporate. The volatile liquid may be at least one liquid selected from:- methanol, ethanol, acetone, methyl ethyl ketone, methyl isobutyl ketone, benzene, toluene and trichloroethylene.
