Abstract

1460828 Polyolefin compositions CHEMISCHE WERKE HULS AG 21 May 1974 [25 May 1973] 22618/74 Heading C3P Plastic or plastic-elastic compositions comprise (a) 70 to 50 weight per cent of a largely amorphous polyolefin or mixture of up to 2 parts by weight of an elastomer with 1 part by weight of a largely amorphous polyolefin, (b) 10 to 55 weight per cent of a polybutene oil or mixture thereof with up to 30 weight per cent of a drying oil and/or up to 50 weight per cent of a chloroparaffin, (c) 30 to 70 weight per cent of a filler and (d) 0À1 to 5 weight per cent of a surfaceactive substance. The amorphous polyolefin may be an atactic polybutene-1 or copolymer of butene-1 wtih ethylene and/or propylene or hexene-1. The elastomer may be natural, butadiene / styrene, butadiene / acrylonitrile, butyl, polybutadiene, polyisoprene or olefin copolymer or terpolymer rubber. Suitable drying oils are polybutadiene and linseed oils, and may contain up to 0À5 weight per cent of drier, e.g. cobalt octoate or cobalt naphthenate. Preferred chloroparaffins contain 45 to 58. The filler may be silica, talc, kaolin, chalk or barytes or mixtures thereof with carbon black, iron oxide or antimony trioxide. The compositions may be used for coating and sealing, and may be applied to non-dry substrates. In examples surface-active substances used are sodium tetrapropylenebenzene sulphonate, sodium n - dodecylbenzene sulphonate, ethoxylated nonylphenol, ethoxylated castor oil, disodium lauryl phosphate, ethoxylated C 18 fatty alcohols and a polydiol stearate.
