Abstract
1460013 Automatic control of fuel supply in IC engines CAV Ltd 18 Dec 1973 [6 Jan 1973] 890/73 Heading G3N A control system for the fuel supply of an engine includes means for increasing the slope of the idling curve of fuel supply against speed by supplementing a demand signal below a predetermined speed. The control arrangement is similar to that shown in Specification 1416861 and the supplementary signal is produced by a transistor circuit similar to that used in Specification 1460014. In operation when the engine speed falls the voltage from transducer 15 rises to cause the transistors 51, 56 to have more equal conduction currents until at a predetermined speed transistor 64 is switched on to increase the current flow to amplifier 17 and thus increase the fuel supply for a given speed. It is stated that this change in the idling characteristic reduces the speed change of the engine when a load is applied, e.g. by engagement of an automatic transmission.
