Jacks. - A screwjack for raising motor-cars, &c. is actuated by a reversible electro-motor 3 which may have its body attached by clamps 4 to the pillar 1 or cast integrally with it. The driving-shaft 5 of the motor is connected by gears 6 - - 10 to the axially-movable but non - rotatable threaded spindle 12. The gear 10 is prevented from moving axially, and with the gear 9 may be formed with double helical teeth. The gears may be enclosed in a detachable cover 15. The head 16 is carried by a threaded pin 17 which screws into the spindle 12 and permits rapid adjustment.
