Abstract

1459808 Grooving tubes RAMIX BV 2 June 1975 [12 June 1974] 23777/75 Heading B5A PVC or polypropylene 15, Fig. 1, is inserted into a mould cavity defined between mould halves 2, 3, a lining 4 and a core 1, 8, 9 in the position shown in the left side of Fig. 1, to form a tube. The lining 4 is then moved axially by rods 5 to expose a mould groove 7 (right side of Fig. 1) into which the still plastic tube 15 is deformed by air fed through ducts 12, 11. The mould halves 2, 3 are then moved radially apart for removal of the tube. The air duct 11 is defined by core insert blocks 8, 9 which define an uninterrupted annular channel 13. Alternatively, each block is divided into two parts 8A, 8B (Fig. 3) sandwiching a plate 16 which defines a pair of annular channels 14A, 14B for moulding a wider or pair of grooves in the tube 15. A plurality of circular channels 19 (Fig. 4) can be defined by pins 18 secured into the core 1.
