Abstract

1296757 Moulds B KIRSCH 26 Feb 1970 [28 Feb 1969] 9469/70 Heading B3F [Also in Division B5] A mould for use in manufacturing frameshaped elements has a mould cavity 5 whose size is adjustable, the mould comprising an upper part 6 covering the top of the mould cavity and a lower part divided into at least two sections. The lower part has a base 2, an inner mould wall 4 and an outer mould wall 3, and, in the embodiment shown in Fig. 1, is made up of two angle members 7 and 8 of similar shape each having a shorter side 9 and a longer side 10. The outer mould walls 3 are just as long as the base part 2 whilst the inner mould walls 4 are considerably shorter. A mould side section 15 is inserted in a gap 14 formed as a result of the shortness of the wall 4 and is connected to the base 2 by screws 16. To change the size of the mould cavity, the side sections 15 are withdrawn and the angle members 7 and 8 mutually displaced in a longitudinal direction until the desired size is attained. The free ends 11 of the shorter sides 9 are then reconnected with the longer sides 10 by means of screws 17 and another mould side section 15 of suitable size inserted in the gap 14. The outer walls 3 have orifices 18 to permit removal of any cores. In another embodiment the lower mould part is made up of a U-shaped angle member and a straight member, and a further embodiment makes use of four straight members. The mould dimensions may be changed in both directions so that the frames produced may vary in length and breadth. The mould sides 3 and 4 may be integral with the base 2 or they may consist of separate strips keyed into longitudinal grooves in the base by members (34).
