Abstract

1459667 Switch mechanism BROWN BOVERI & CIE AG 3 May 1974 [5 May 1973] 19500/74 Heading H1N A polyphase high voltage circuit breaker unit comprises a line of breaker assemblies for breaking respective phases, each assembly comprising an insulative housing having an end portion 2 provided with a cylindrical guide tube in which is a movable conductor (8) provided with arc quenching means and movable rectilinearly to and from a position in which it bridges two fixed contacts (15, 16), a cross-member 10 connected to the movable conductors of the assemblies to simultaneously operate them, a breaker operating drive shaft 12 extending along the line of assemblies at a level between their ends and a mechanism 11, 13 interconnecting the drive shaft and the cross-member to convert the rotary motion of the shaft into the rectilinear motion of the cross-member. Each assembly receives a feeder at its lower end, each of which feeders is provided with a differently positioned earthing connection 26 into which an earthing spike inserted in a contact 28 can be pushed. Several lines of breaker assemblies can be arranged sideby-side to form an installation, Fig. 1 not shown, and each unit may have H.R.C. fuses (25) in fuse holders (19). A power accumulator may assist closing of the circuit breakers.
