Abstract
1458990 Threading up yarn guide tubes BARMAG BARMER MASCHINENFABRIK AG 19 Dec 1974 [19 Dec 1973] 54917/74 Heading D1F An apparatus for heating filaments, e.g. a false-twist crimping apparatus comprises a heated guide tube 2, an unheated guide tube 5, 6, a vapour extraction tube 10 and a mobile filament suction unit 12 for threading the filament 14 into the guide tube, the unheated guide tube 5 being connected to the heated guide tube 2 in airtight fashion but being displaceable such 'that in one end position of its displacement it blocks the opening of the vapour extraction tube 10. The reduction in pressure used to suck the yarn into the guide tube may thus be equal to or less than that used to extract pollutants. In the embodiment of Fig. 1 when suction unit 12 is applied to the unheated tulbe 6 its weight pivots the tube so that its end 5 comes into air-tight contact with the annular end face 7 of the 'connector 3 to block off extraction opening 110. In Fig. 4 unheated guide tube 29 terminates in cylindrical housing 30 having a tube socket 31 connected via flexible hose to a vapour extraction system. In the yarn threading position shown flange 34 on the end of heated guide tube 2 abuts the bottom of housing 30 to seal off access to the extraction system. In the embodiments of Figs. 2 (3, 3a, not shown) the unheated yarn guide tube 22 normally communicates with vapour extractor tube 10 via apertures (24, Figs. 3, 3a) annular channel (26) defined by the gap between tubes 22 and 23. When the suction unit 12 is applied it causes tube 25 to pivot so that its vertical section 22 presses against and seals vapour extraction tube 10. Either tube 22 or tube 10 is flexible to permit this movement. The unheated yarn guide tube may have a cylindrical wear-resistant yarn guide pin (35, Fig. 5, not shown) at a bend in the tube.
