Abstract
1458805 Adhesive sealing strips INDUSTRIAL SEALANTS Ltd 18 March 1975 11258/75 Heading B2E A composite seal comprises a strip of a resilient synthetic polymeric foam provided on one face with a non-removable film which is coated with a release layer and on the other face with a pressure sensitive adhesive, the film being impervious to air and to migration of components of the polymeric foam. The seal may be made by: applying a foamable composition to the impervious film optionally after application of a primer; foaming and curing the composition; applying a pressure sensitive adhesive thereto; and cutting the coated film into strips, before or after rolling it up; a release coating being provided on the film. The material of the release layer may be silicone. Suitable foams are p.v.c. which may be filled, polyethylene, polypropylene or polyurethane. The film may be formed from polyethylene terephthalate, nylon or metal and the adhesive is preferably a cross-linked acrylic polymer and may be applied from solution or dispersion. Primers mentioned are polyacrylonitrile and polyester applied e.g. from solution.
