Abstract

1457742 Horseshoes ROTOR ENG & PLASTICS Ltd 2 Jan 1974 [5 Jan 1973] 757/ 73 Heading AIM Strip material of extruded polyurethane for making horseshoes comprises a thin front hook portion 5 and a relatively thick base portion 6. Generality V-shaped notches 7 are cut into the base portion 6 at regular intervals so that the strip may be readily bent. The rear portion 8A of the upper surface of the base 6 is gently curved to contact the outer part of the animal's hoof. The region 8B is substantially flat to contact the outer horn portion of the hoof. The hook portion 5 extends upwardly over the outer face of the hoof. A raised portion 10A contacts the ground in use. A longitudinal nail guide slot 10B is provided but the shoe is usually attached with adhesive. Shoes of composites of different grades of plastics material may be made. For Figures see next column
