Abstract
1457449 Spray carburetters HONDA GIKEN KOGYO KK 14 Dec 1973 [30 July 1973] 58111/73 Heading F1H In a carburetter having at least one main induction passage 12 with a throttle valve 18 mounted on a shaft 19 for supplying a mixture to at least one main combustion chamber and an auxiliary induction passage with a throttle valve mounted on a 14 shaft 23 for supplying a richer mixture to an auxiliary combustion chamber, the throttle valve shafts are operatively connected. The shafts 19 and 23 are connected to be operated by a member 25 mounted on a stationary hub 24 and angularly adjustable by a cable 39. A projection 33 from the part 26 of the member 25 is received in a slot 34 in a member 35 fixed to a projecting end of the shaft 19. An arm 80 on the member 25 is connected by a link 78 to an arm 82 on a member 83 mounted for angular adjustment with a member 84 fixed to the shaft 23. A throttle valve 20 in the second main induction passage 13 is operated by a diaphragm assembly 75 responsive to the vacuum in a Venturi 15 in the induction passage 12 when, at about 40 degrees of opening of the valve 18 a first roller (72a), Fig. 4 (not shown), on the member 25 engages a first cam surface (73) on a member (66) which applies the force of a closing spring (69) through a projection (67) to a member 64 fixed to the shaft 19. A cam surface 62 on the member 25 engages a roller 63 on the member 64 to prevent opening of the second throttle valve (20) prior to engagement of the first roller (72a) and cam surface (73). A diaphragm device 57 acts a dash pot to prevent to rapid closing of the valve 18 and may be vented to atmosphere when the ignition is switched off to prevent running-on. A vacuum operated diaphragm assembly 50 operates to hold open the valve 18 during over-running above a predetermined speed. Below about 12 m.p.h. a speed sensitive switch interrupts the supply of vacuum to the assembly 50 to permit closing of the valve 18 to the idling position. The auxiliary induction passage may be formed in a separate carburetter body (109) Figs. 10 to 13 (not shown), and the three throttle valves are operated by a cable (125) via a member (122) mounted on a stationary hub (120) supporting a shaft (105) linked to the throttle valves.
