Abstract

1457444 Measuring dimensions electrically M POSSATI [trading as FINIKE ITALIANA MARPOSS-SaS] 28 Nov 1973 [1 Dec 1972] 55266/73 Heading G1N A gauging device includes a measuring head 29 with feeler 31 on a shaft 30 connected with a movable core 44 of a differential transformer 43, the head being supported on a slide 27 driven up or down by nut 32, shaft 15 and electric motor 20 which motor is controlled retroactively to position slide 27 at the nearest reference graduation on a scale 35 above the point at which the feeler engages a workpiece disposed on plate 12, the motor control signals being supplied by a position transducer 34 on the head, which nearest reference graduation is shown by revolution counter 67 whilst reading device 48 indicates the difference between the reference graduation and the position of the feeler as measured by the differential transformer 43 so that the algebraic sum represents the workpiece dimension relative to the plate 12. The slide is moved towards or away from the workpiece until the signal from transformer 43 lies within limit values set by switches 49, 50 when control of the motor passes to the signal from the position transducer 34. When the signal from the latter is at a nullar minimum value the slide is halted.
