Abstract
145,699. Hirsch & Co., G. F. A., (Fabriken fur Feld-und Kleinbahnen Bedarf). May 26, 1919, [Convention date]. Tip-wagons.-In a tip-wagon of the type which tips automatically when loaded and is restored automatically to the normal position when empty, a guide 4 on the bottom 3 of the wagon engages a curved guide 2 on the underframe 1 or vice versa so that the centre of gravity S<1> of the loaded wagon in the normal position lies on one side of the point of support, while the centre of gravity of the unloaded wagon in the tilted position lies on the opposite side of the point of support. One side wall 7 is pivoted to the bottom 3 and itsupper edge 8 is guided either in vertical guides 9, or as shown in Fig. 4, by means of rods 13 which keep the wall 7 substantially at right angles to the bottom. The other side wall 14 is either fixed or connected by rods 15 to the cranked rods 13 so as to open as the wagon tilts. The rolling movement of the guide 4 on the curved guide 2 may be constrained by providing interengaging teeth on the guides or by connecting them by a pivoted link. A locking-pawl 5 is provided to engage the guide 4 so as to retain the wagon in its normal position, and automatically locks the wagon in its return from the tilted position. The pawl is mounted on an eccentric 17, Fig. 5, keyed to a spindle 6, which is rotated to release the guide 4. A counterweighted catch 10 is also provided to retain the wagon in the tilted position, and the two catches may be connected by a rod so that release of the catch 10 ensures the pawl 5 being in the " set-for-locking " position indicated in Fig. 5.
