Abstract

1456825 Ionization manometers P SADLER 12 Feb 1975 [14 Nov 1973] 52758/73 Heading H1D A cold cathode ionization vacuum gauge comprises a loop anode 20 detachably mounted on a metal voltage stress shield 25. A tube 11, originally cylindrical, is flattened to provide two facing cold-cathode areas 13, one on each side of the Cr-Ni-Nb loop 20 sprung by its inturned ends into slots 23 and recesses 21 in stainless steel (high work function material) shield 25, itself attached by insulator 17 to annulus 16. For cleaning or replacement of anode 20 annulus 16 complete with shield and anode may be removed by unclamping 0-ring 15 by releasing locking ring 19, also allowing the cathode areas 13 to be cleaned by abrasion. Ring magnet 12 maintains a field perpendicular to cathode areas 13.
