Abstract

1456701 Sintering apparatus MOSCOV INST STALI I SPLAVOV 2 Jan 1975 [3 Jan 1974 12 Feb 1974] 133/75 Heading F4B A machine for agglomerating ores &c. comprises a rotatable drum with a peripheral sintering grate 2, the drum being mounted inside a casing 9 connected to a source of compressed air, exhaust gases being removed through hollow shafts 8 carrying the drum, and hoppers 4 and 5, with seal valves 11, 13 and 15, 17 serving to apply a bed and layer of charge 5 to the upper part of the drum, rotation of the drum bringing the deposited material under a gas-fired heater 19 which ignites the charge and causes it to sinter, being pressed meanwhile against the grate by the pressure of air in the casing 9. At the lowest point the sintered layer passes under a box 29 supplied through axial pipes 30 with compressed air at a pressure higher than that in casing 9. The air passing outwardly through the grate removes the sinter from the grate allowing it to fall into a hopper 33 with seal valves 32, 34.
