Abstract

1456629 Laminating with starch-polyethyleneimine adhesives TOYO SODA MFG CO Ltd 6 June 1975 [11 June 1974] 24415/75 Heading B5N [Also in Division C3] A process for preparing a laminated product comprises coating a surface of a substrate, e.g. a cellulose film, aluminium foil or polypropylene film with an aqueous solution containing starch and/or a modified starch and polyethyleneimine in the ratio of starch and/or modified starch: polyethyleneimine of 10-300 wt. parts : 100 wt. parts (see Division C3), allowing the solution to dry and extrusion laminating or coating a plastics film, e.g. a thermoplastic polyolefin such as low density polyethylene, high density polyethylene or polypropylene on the coated surface. In Example 1 a monoaxially-stretched polypropylene film is then applied. Other possible substrates include monoaxially stretched polypropylene film, biaxially stretched polypropylene film, polyester film, non-woven fabric, paper, synthetic paper, printed or non- printed polyvinylidene-vinyl chloride-coated nylon, and low density polyethylene film.
