Abstract

1456582 Coloured polyamides DU PONT OF CANADA Ltd 25 Feb 1974 [28 Feb 1973 18 Dec 1973] 8506/74 Heading C3R A composition comprises a polyamide and an alumina lake of an azo dye harmless to humans when heated in contact with food. The polyamide may also include fillers or stabilizers, e.g. copper stearate, cuprous bromide or iodide and/or woolastonite, or TiO 2 . In examples various such lakes are incorporated in nylon 66 of R.V. 40 to 44 (8À4 wt. per cent in 90% formic acid at 25‹ C.). Preferred lakes are 3-carboxy- 5 - hydroxy - 1 - p - sulphophenyl - 4 - n - sulphophenylazopyrazole trisodium salt alumina lake; 1 - p - sulphophenylazo - 2 - naphthol - 6 - sulphonic acid disodium salt alumina lake; and 1-(4- sulpho - 1 - naphthylazo) - 2 - naphthol - 3,6- disulphonic acid trisodium salt alumina lake.
