Abstract

1456443 Image pick-up tubes HITACHI Ltd 7 March 1974 [11 April 1973] 10199/74 Heading HID In a colour vidicon pick-up tube having a stripe filter 16 on its faceplate 5, which filter is covered with a coating 18, e.g. of glass or SiO 2 , to provide a smooth surface for the deposition of conductive and photoconductive films thereon, thereby avoiding signal defects which arise if the films are deposited directly on the irregular surface presented by the filter-supporting faceplate, the coating 18 terminates in a region defined by the periphery of the filter + or - 5 m.m.s., such that sufficient of the area of the coating is keyed to the irregular filter surface to ensure proper adherence of the coating. In an alternative embodiment (Figs. 10 and 11, not shown), the stripe filter is surrounded by a peripheral layer (20) and the coating 18 terminates in a region defined by the periphery of the peripheral coating + or - 5 m.m.s.
