Abstract

1455901 Low pressure indicators for tyres H C WINTHER W J WINTHER W J WINTHER S MCGINLEY WINTHER and C R WINTHER 15 Feb 1974 [15 Feb 1973 (2)] 7070/74 Heading B7C A device for indicating that the pressure in a container, e.g. a tyre, has fallen to below a predetermined value comprises a housing defining a bore, an annular valve seat 107 within the bore, a valve poppet 109 engageable with the seat under the influence of pressure in the container, means 114, 115 for biasing the valve poppet away from the seat, and a piston 120 which is moved to its illustrated position when the pressure within the container is insufficient to maintain the valve poppet in contact with its seat is when the pressure in the container is below the predetermined value. The housing may comprise axially aligned interengaging parts 101, 101<SP>1</SP>. Where the device is fitted on to a tyre inflation valve V an element 105 is provided for holding the valve V permanently open. The element 105 is not necessary where the device communicates directy with the interior of the container (Fig. 3, not shown). (For Figure see next column.)
