Abstract
145,566. Bound-Brook Oil-Less Bearing Co., [formerly Graphite Lubricating Co.]. (Assignees of Bache, L. S.). March 17, 1914, [Convention date]. Channels in cylindrical bearings.-A loose bearing bush is provided on one or both surfaces with grooves containing graphite or similar lubricant, which stops short of the ends of the bush. Fig. 3 shows a bush having helical grooves 2 on its inner and longitudinal grooves 3 on its outer surface : the two sets of grooves have no communication. Fig. 4 shows a bush with an outer helical groove 8 which is continued by holes 9 to avoid weakening the bush at the ends. In a modification, the bush is spherical externally and has helical grooves on both its surfaces. The graphite &c. is pressed firmly into the grooves and vulcanized to harden it.
