Abstract

1455152 Ingot mould baseplates FOSECO TRADING AG 7 March 1974 [6 April 1973] 16623/73 Heading B2F [Also in Division C3] A cast iron base plate for an ingot mould is provided with a slot containing a refractory slab formed of particulate refractory material, fibrous material and a binder. The particulate refractory material may be sand, alumina, magnesia, olivine, chamotte, burned dolomite, or metallurgical slag; the fibrous material may be slag wool, rock wool, glass fibres or paper, and the binder may be phenolformaldehyde or an alkali metal silicate. The slot has a dovetail cross-section and a refactory composition comprising dead-burnt magnesite and sodium silicate may be painted or sprayed on to the upper surface of the slab prior to casting.
