Abstract
145,478. Parolini, C., and Ferron, G. March 31, 1919, [Convention date]. Kinematograph apparatus. - A camera, which differs from an ordinary kinematograph camera in that it has a speed-multiplying gear and colour screens, is turned on its side, when in use, to produce negative films, Figs. 1 and 2, having pairs of colour records A A', B B' &c. and from such films positive films, Fig. 6, having reduced pairs of images A A<1> &c. in the space normally occupied by a monochrome image, are printed by projection in an apparatus in which the films are fed in perpendicular directions; a divided objective for use in projecting the positive films is also described. A camera for producing films as shown in Fig. 1 has gearing such that the film is fed at twice the normal rate, and a transparent rotating disk, coloured, green over one half and orange over the other half, constitutes the colour screens. For films as in Fig. 2, the gearing trebles the normal rate of feed, and the rotating disk has three equal sectors, one green, another orange, and the third opaque, thus producing a blank or " null image " A<0> between each pair of colour records. The printing-apparatus may, as shown in Fig. 3, comprise toothed drums for feeding the films 1, 2. The drums are driven by Maltese cross mechanisms geared together, and have diameters such that the positive film 2 is fed intermittently one picture space, and the negative film 1 is simultaneously fed two or three picture spaces according to the kind of negative film in use. The exposure aperture for the negative film is equal in area to two of the images thereon. Fig. 7 shows a projector objective comprising lenses 25, 26 which are cut so that the separation of their optical centres may be reduced to the distance between the centres of the images A A<1>, &c. of each pair. The lenses, which may have slightly convergent axes, are carried by plates hinged together, the plates being relatively adjustable by a micrometer screw 29 to enable the images A A' to be registered on the screen. Colour screens are provided in the objective, so that, by substitution of this objective for the usual one, an ordinary projector may be used to project the positive films.
