1454578 Fuels NAPHTACHIMIE 26 June 1974 [26 June 1973] 28458/74 Heading C5G Anti-icing properties are imparted to hydrocarbon fuels for internal combustion engines by dissolving therein 2À5-50 p.p.m. by weight of one or more aliphatic nitriles having the formula R-CN in which R is a C 1-5 aliphatic group, e.g. acetonitrile, 5-500 p.p.m. by weight of an additive comprising one or more of ethylene glycol, propylene glycol, polyglycols having a molecular weight less than 250, glycol ethers corresponding to the general formula R<SP>1</SP>-O-(C n H 2n O) x -H in which R<SP>1</SP> represents an aliphatic radical, -(C n H 2n O)- represents an oxyethylene or oxypropylenic group and x is 1-7 and aliphatic monohydric alcohols may also be dissolved in the fuel. The polyglycols may be diethylene glycol, dipropylene glycol, triethylene glycol, tripropylene glycol, tetraethylene glycol and/or tetrapropylene glycol.
