Abstract

1454241 Composite filaments; spinnerettes KANEBO KK 10 Feb 1975 [8 Feb 1974 18 Dec 1974] 5620/75 Heading B5B [Also in Divisions B2 and D1] A filament for use in suede-like artificial leather and formed by coextrusion is a multicomponent polymeric filament having (i) a central portion A of Y, + or * shape or a similar shape, and either (ii) fill portions B, or (iii) fill portions B<SP>1</SP>, C, filling the space between adjacent arms of the central portion, each portion C forming a wedged shape concave portion in the respective portion B<SP>1</SP>, the portions A or A and C being of a polymer different from that of portions B or B<SP>1</SP>, the different polymers having a low mutual adhesive affinity. Suitable combinations of different polymers are (a) a polyamide and a polyester, (b) a polyamide and a polyolefin, (c) a polyester and polyolefin, (d) a polyester and an acrylonitrile polymer and (e) a polyamide and an acrylonitrile polymer. Suitable polyesters are polyethylene terephthalate and its copolymers, polytetramethylene terephthalate, polyethylene oxybenzoate, 1,4-dimethylcyclohexane terephthalate, and polypivalolactone. Suitable polyamides are polycapramide, polyhexamethylene adipamide, nylon-4, nylon-7, nylon-11, nylon-12, nylon-6- 10, poly-m-xylylene adipamide and poly-pxylylene adipamide. Polyethylene and polypropylene are suitable polyolefins. Details of the spinnerettes used are also given.
