Abstract
1453612 Fluid actuation of switches GARDOM & LOCK Ltd 21 Jan 1974 [23 Jan 1973] 3358/73 Heading H1N A differential pressure switch arrangement comprises a switch 10 and an actuator 11, wherein the actuator comprises a diaphragm 17, peripherally clamped by casing 13, 14 to provide two compartments 15, 16, pressure ducts 34, 35, an actuator plunger 25 and sealing means 28; wherein the plunger 25 extends from a central part of diaphragm 17 across one of the compartments 16, through a resilient cylindrical member of the sealing means and through a way provided in an end wall 26 to make operational contact with the switch 10; wherein one part of the cylindrical member 28 is disposed in said one compartment 16 and is constrained to move with the plunger 25; and wherein another part of cylindrical member 28 sealingly engages the casing to prevent leakage through said way. Bias is provided by a spring 23 and a thrust member 24 whose area is larger than that of the end of the plunger. Stop 33 is adjustable to move microswitch 10 for calibration. The cylindrical member 28 embraces the plunger 25 and also a projection 27 of the casing such that pressure in the compartment improves the seal. A further switch with actuator plunger and sealing means in the other compartment 15 may be provided for operation by a pressure differential in the opposite sense.
