Abstract
1453522 Buoyant hoses PNEUMATIC CAOUTCHOUC MFG ET PLASTIQUES KLEBER-COLOMBES 5 Feb 1974 [5 Feb 1973] 05340/74 Heading F2P A flexible buoyant hose includes a reinforced wall 10, e.g. of rubber, forming the hose proper over the outer face of which is located a layer of a cellular buoyancy material 11, the outer face of the cellular material 11 being covered with a protective sheath formed by a flexible layer of helically disposed flexible cables 12 embedded in a layer 13 of rubber or like material, the cables being laid at an angle between 56 and 68 degrees to the axis of the hose. Preferably the cables 12 are arranged at an angle of approximately 60 degrees to the axis of the hose and consist of elastically extensible metal cables, e.g. formed of 7 strands each of 3 filaments. Before being incorporated in the hose the cables 12 may be permanently deformed so as to contain undulations lying on either side of the axis of the cable. The layer 13 preferably has a natural rubber base and is coated with a thin layer 14 having a polychloroprene base.
