Abstract
1452994 Road barriers J GAIL and J KAGUFERLE 9 Jan 1974 [10 Jan 1973] 01017/ 74 Headings E1G and E2M In a road barrier a barrier arm 14 is hinged indirectly to a barrier post 10 such that the hinge 13 of the barrier arm is movably vertically in relation to the barrier post 10 and the free end of the barrier arm 19 extends downwardly when the barrier is in its open position (Fig. 1). The vertically movable hinge 13 of the barrier arm may be secured to a slide 12 provided on the sliding bar 11 telescopically associated with the barrier post 10, as shown in Figures 1 and 2. Alternatively, as shown in Figure 4, vertically movable hinge 34 of a major arm portion 30 of the barrier arm may be connected to the barrier post 32 by a minor arm portion 31 of the barrier arm. In another embodiment (Fig. 5, not shown) the barrier arm may be actuated by an electric motor and threaded spindle or a fluid pressure operated cylinder.
