Abstract

1452930 Retractive switches LUCAS ELECTKICAL Ltd 30 Jan 1974 [22 Feb 1973] 8663/73 Heading H1N A switch comprises first and second contact members 15 and 16 engaging opposite faces of an element 19 formed of resilient insulating material containing discrete particles of conductive material and resilient means urges the members 15, 16 towards one another such that the element 19 is compressed to form a conductive path therethrough, movement of the members 15, 16 away from one another being limited such that at this limit the members 15, 16 remain engaged with the respective faces of element 19 but the compression thereof is then insufficient to establish said conductive path. As shown the switch is for door-operation. A spring 24 urges the head 23 of an operating plunger 22 against movable contact 16 and compresses element 19 against fixed contact 15 with sufficient force to establish a connection between the contacts. If plunger 22 is depressed, as in the upper part of the Figure, contact 16 is released and the circuit broken but abutment of contact 16 on shoulder 14 keeps contact 16 against element 19.
