Abstract

1452781 Treatment of sewage OXFAM ACTIVITIES Ltd 18 March 1974 [20 March 1973] 13452/73 Heading C1C A method of treating sewage comprises supplying it to at least one closed collapsible container in which the sewage is maintained under anaerobic conditions, withdrawing liquid from the container and subjecting the withdrawn liquid to biological filtration under aerobic conditions. The container(s) may be made of flexible material, including lay-flat tubing, and provided with baffle means. The biological filter material may be coke, brushwood or a suitable plastic material. Apparatus suitable for carrying out the process is also described and claimed. The method and apparatus may be used for permanent or emergency sewage disposal.
