Abstract

1452432 Lubrication DAIMLER-BENZ AG 18 June 1974 [24 July 1973] 27004/74 Heading F2A A liquid-cooled I.C. engine 10 has a lubricant circuit including a heat exchanger 18 connected to lubrication points 22 by means of a delivery duct 23; a lubricant pump 12; and a supply duct 19, the lubrication points 22 also being connected to the supply duct 19 by means of a by-pass duct 35 connected between the supply duct 19 and the delivery duct 23 and by-passing the heat exchanger 18, the by-pass duct 35 being connected to the supply duct 19 by a closable control passage 27 having a check valve 34 opening in the direction of the by-pass duct 35 against the action of a spring 47, wherein the supply duct 19 includes a control valve 33 operating in dependence on the output pressure of the pump 12 and which either connects the heat exchanger 18 to the supply duct 19 when the pressure is below a predetermined minimum or shuts off the heat exchanger 18 when the pressure reaches or exceeds the predetermined pressure to connect the supply duct 19 to the by-pass duct 35.
