Abstract

1452288 Indications for multi-car systems HITACHI Ltd 23 Oct 1973 [27 Oct 1972] 49326/73 Heading G3N In a multi-car elevator system in which the cars are divided into a plurality of groups, indicator lamps, for each group and for each direction of possible travel being provided at each landing, an indication is given of the group to which a car which will respond to a given hall-call belongs. In the embodiment of Figs. 4-13 (not shown) cars A, B and C, regarded as moving in a ring and each having a service zone extending from its effective position to that of the car ahead are divided into two groups AB, and C. A hall-call is assigned to the car within whose zone it lies, and, simultaneously with the assignment, or after a delay, a relay, which will control the deceleration of the car when it enters the deceleration region for the floor, is energized, one of its contact sets energizing the indicator lamp of the group in which the car is contained, such relay contacts being in parallel, at each floor and direction, for each car of a given group, Fig. 13 (not shown). The effective car position is advanced, one, two or three floors ahead of its actual position for low, medium or high speeds, and an optional, a position advance of zero, one, or two floors is also applied as a function of the number of calls allocated to the car compared with the average for all cars, and the distance to the succeeding car, Figs. 4-8 (not shown). In a further embodiment, Figs. 14-21 (not shown), six cars are divided into two groups W [cars A, B, C] and Z [cars DEF] effective positions of cars within each group being determined without identifying particular cars, a given hall-call being allocated to a group, and answered by the first available car in that group to approach the landing. The correction to each car's position due to its call load is made either by taking into account solely car calls for each car [hall-calls only being allocated to a group] or by adding to the car calls, all hallcalls allocated to the group containing the car, each hall-call being weighted in inverse proportion to the number of cars in the group, Fig. 21 (not shown). The given hall-call is allocated to that group which contains a car whose zone contains the hall originating the call. The indicator lamps may alternatively show continuously the group to which a hall-call made at any time will be allocated. A fully loaded car will not respond to hall-calls. In a system with eight cars, there may be two or four groups, Figs. 2a, 2b (not shown).
