Abstract

1429674 Automatic control of elevators HITACHI Ltd 13 March 1973 [15 March 1972 21 April 1972 (2) 31 May 1972] 11889/73 Heading B8L In a multi-car elevator system, passengers are given advance notification, by means of lamps, or audio signals, of the particular car to which a hall call has been allocated, independently of the approach of the car to the floor, an indication being given when the car is about to arrive. In the logic circuit of Fig. 6a (not shown), in dependence upon the positions, and hall call loadings of each car compared with the average hall call loading, a registered hall call is allocated to one of the cars, for example car A, an AND gate, e.g. (A9UA4, Fig. 6a) for a ninth floor up hall call being enabled, in turn operating, via thyristor (R9UA), Fig. 9 (not shown), relay (R y 9UA) energizing lamp (S9UA), Fig. 10 (not shown), to give the notification. The relays R y 2DA-R y 9UA also enable lift deceleration to take place. By means of an alternative logic circuit, Fig. 6b (not shown), the precise allocation is not made upon registration of the hall call, the notification being made only when the particular car to be allocated is established. The notification may be given for each direction for each floor (Fig. 10), or a single indicator for each floor may be used for both directions (Fig. 12). By provision of a flicker relay (FA), Fig. 11 (not shown), or a resistor (not shown), each notification lamp may flicker, or be dimmed, as the allocated car approaches the floor. At the initiation of car deceleration to stop at the floor, indication is given by arrival forecaster (HL9UA), Fig. 13 (not shown). The audio indicator means, in the form of a tape recorder giving a verbal message, or chimes, or bells, Figs. 17, 18, 19 (not shown), is provided for each floor, for each car, or group of adjacent cars. The modification of Fig. 16 (not shown), ensures that, should calls from a landing in both directions be allocated to a single car, notification is given only for that direction in which the car is currently moving. Disposition of indicators. Figs. 14a-14g (not shown).-The notification lamps, or sound sources, and arrival forecasters may be located adjacent each car entry (Figs. 14a-14d, 14g), the former delivering a message (Fig. 14d), the notification may be projected on to the lift door, (Fig. 14e), or indications, with car identification, may be given centrally (Fig. 14f). Circuits for determining the physical position (d a , d b , d c ) and hall call load for each car (CA, CB, CC) as well as hall call load averaging circuitry are disclosed. Figs. 1-3 (not shown), there being a comparator, Fig. 5 (not shown), for advancing the effective position of each car by 0, 1 or 2 floors, in dependence upon the values of (d a , db, d c ; CA, CB, CC) and the average hall call load signal (C). Means are provided to exclude a full, reserved, or out of service car from allocation.
