Abstract

145,196. Heumann, H. F. April 15, 1919. Portable and contractors' railways.-A slide rail is clamped to the main rail of a mine track with the tread of the slide rail engaging the web of the main rail by a clamp comprising a bar having at one end an abutment to engage the base of the slide rail and at the other end an adjustable block carrying means for engaging the web of the main rail. As shown, the clamp comprises a bar 7 with a bent end 8 to engage the base 9 of the slide rails 4 and with ratchet teeth 10 with which engages a tooth 14 in an adjustable block 12 which carries a clamping screw 17 to engage the web 6 of the main rail 1. The screw may pass freely through the block 12 and be operated by a nut 20, or may be screwed through the block and be operated by turning it. To prevent accidental removal of the block 12 from the bar 7, a screw 22 passes through the side of the block into a groove 11 in the bar.
