Abstract
1451802 Lintels ASSET BUILDING COMPONENTS Ltd 5 Oct 1973 [29 May 1973] 17193/76 Divided out of 1451801 Heading E1K A metal lintel comprises a hollow rectangular, box-section member formed by two similar sheet-metal members 13, 14 each having a horizontal portion 15 connected by a plain bend with a vertical portion 16 which has horizontal flange 17 at its extremity, the two members being fitted together as shown such that the flange 17 of one member abuts an end section of the portion 15 of the other member, these abutting flanges and end sections being spot-welded at intervals along the length of the lintel to secure the members 13, 14 together and provide laterally projecting flanges at two diagonally opposite corners of the box-section. Keying strips 18 having inclined flanges 19 are welded to the vertical portions 16 to assist in locating plaster. The overall width of the lintel is either the same as a building block, e.g. four inches, or slightly wider, e.g. four and a half inches.
