1451355 Cattle yokes P G DORMEHL 14 Nov 1973 [16 July 1973] 52906/73 Heading A5R A yoke assembly for animals comprises a frame 1 secured to a base 3 and a pair of yoke members 7 extending upwardly from pivots in sliding blocks 6 in the base. The frame 2 may be made of two tubular inverted U shaped members extending upwardly from an elongate base 3 of upwardly concave channel form extending between the frame members and to one side thereof. Two blocks 6 slide in the channel between the frame members and provide pivots for two yoke members 7. A block operating link system comprising members 10 11 and 14 couple the pivot blocks to an operating block 12 which is slidably mounted on a vertical tube 13 and provided with a locking means 15. Another system comprising link pairs 16, 17 coupled the tops of the yoke members at pivot points 8 through a boss 18, fitted with a handle 19 by which it is rotatable to move the tops of the yoke members in unison. A toothed bar 20 pivotably attached to the boss mounting passes through an aperture in one yoke member and is spring biased into contact therewith so that the teeth engage the edge of the aperture. A push rod 34 may be lifted by an extension 33 of the operating block to bring a lifting plate 32 to contact the toothed bar disengaging it from the yoke member so that the yoke tops are moved apart, by a spiral spring (not shown) acting on the boss, at the same time as their lower ends are moved apart. A head gate 22 is provided. Dirt excluding flanges (not shown) may be provided for the base channel.
