Abstract
1451055 Refrigerating INTEGRAL PROCESS SYSTEMS Inc 6 Nov 1973 [8 March 1973] 51379/73 Heading F4H In apparatus for refrigerating articles, e.g. meat patties, comprising a chamber 11 containing a conveyer 19 and into which a cryogen fluid, e.g. liquid CO 2 , is sprayed through a duct 38 spaced from the entrance 17 of the chamber, spent cryogen fluid is withdrawn from the chamber through a cylinder 53 adjacent the entrance 17 by a motor driven blower, Fig. 1 (not shown), and a flow confining baffle 57 is provided adjacent the entrance 17 to increase the gas velocity adjacent the conveyer and to restrict the withdrawal of the spent gas. The tunnel beneath the conveyer 19 is provided with horizontal plates 61, 62, the plate 62 defining a gas recirculation passage 64 from which gas is withdrawn by a blower and exhausted through the duct 38 where it mixes with the incoming liquid CO 2 . The proportions of gas being withdrawn or recirculated are controlled by the baffle 57, entrance baffles. 80, 81 and valves 72, 73.
