Abstract
1450852 Shovelling machines J I CASE CO 5 June 1974 [24 Aug 1973] 24892/74 Heading E1F [Also in Division F1] A circuit, Fig. 2, applicable to a shovelling machine and for ensuring that the demands of the rams and motors shown are met, up to the maximum allowable pressure as predetermined by a prime mover, comprises constant displacement pumps 56, 58 each in separate systems which include respectively motors 20, 72, 34 and 21, 38, 28 and pressure relief valves 120 each of which has a head portion 162 or 182, Fig. 3, exposed to the outlet pressure of one of the pumps and an additional area, 168 or 188, exposed to the outlet pressure of the other pump, so that when the total force on the valves equals the maximum allowable for the system at least one will open. The arrangement ensures that the maximum system pressure is always available for either one motor or to be divided as required between a plurality thereof. The control valves 62, 102 connect the motors in series when more than one is actuated. The relief valves 120 are pilot actuated by adjustable valves 126, 128. As described the circuit is applied to an earthworking machine, Fig. 1, (not shown).
