Abstract
1450819 Ionization smoke detectors J E HAMM and R S JENSON 22 Jan 1974 [2 Feb 1973] 02882/74 Heading G1N In an ionization smoke detector the radiation source 46 is mounted centrally in a cup-shaped housing 48 to emit particles 45 towards a negatively biased electrode 44. The electrostatic field between the electrode and the positively charged housing, tends to focus the particle beam. Focusing may also be assisted by a cup round the source and an electromagnetic field. A circuit for controlling an SCR/buzzer alarm is illustrated in Figs. 4, 5, (not shown) and is substantially self explanatory.
