Abstract
1450635 Dual layer magnetic recording tape SONY CORP 17 July 1974 [19 July 1973] 31679/74 Heading B2E A magnetic recording tape has a non- magnetisable base; a first layer 4-6 microns thick containing acicular gamma ferric oxide and having a coercive force of 260 to 320 oersteds and a saturation residual flux density of 1150 to 1600 gaum and an outer layer 0.2-2 microns thick containing chromium dioxide particles and having a coercive force or 450 to 550 oersteds and a saturation residual flux density of 1200 to 1600 gaum. and a thickness of 0.5 to 2.0 microns. Suitable coating compositions for the layers contain in addition to the magnetic particles, vinyl acetate-vinyl chloride resin, polyurethane resin, lethacin (dispersant), olive oil (lubricant), methyl ethyl ketone, toluene and cyclohexanone, and may be applied by gravure coater to a polyethylene terephthalate base.
