Abstract
1484958 Magnetic recording tape SONY CORP 19 Aug 1975 [26 Aug 1974] 34502/75 Heading B2E A magnetic recording tape has a non-magnetisable base and an inner coating of a homogeneous dispersion of ferromagnetic iron oxide powder in a resinous binder, of thickness 7-12 microns, a coercive force of 260-320 oersteds, a saturation residual flex density of 1150-1600 gauss and an outer layer of thickness 1-5 microns of a homogeneous dispersion of ferromagnetic powder in a resinous binder, having a coercive force of 380-500 oersteds, and having a saturation residual flex density of 1200-1300 gauss, the ferromagnetic powders in the outer layer including at least ferromagnetic chromium dioxide powder having a coercive force of 450-600 oersteds and a ferromagnetic iron oxide powder having a coercive force of 320-450 oersteds, the weight ratio of the ferromagnetic chromium dioxide and ferromagnetic iron oxide in the outer layer being in the range 1:4 to 4:1.
