Abstract

1450290 Shearing SCHLOEMANN-SIEMAG AG 28 June 1974 [28 June 1973] 28766/74 Heading B3W In a shear for trimming rolled plates means are provided for adjusting the cutting clearance between both the trimming blades 2, 3 and scrap shearing cross-blades 11, 12 to suit different plate thicknesses. As shown, the blade 12 is fixed to the movable blade 3 and the blade 11 can be lowered independently of the blade 2 by an hydraulic cylinder (21), Fig. 2 via a toggle link 16-18 to prevent the trimmed strip 23 from fouling the blade 11 as the plate 22 is advanced. Alternatively the blade 11 is fixed and the strip is raised by a resiliently mounted member during the return stroke of the blade 3. The blades 3 and 12 are mounted on a beam 4 which carries trunnions 9 journalled in blocks 10 each slidable in a respective housing 24<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 3. The housing is vertically movable between guides 26 and 27 fixed to the shear frame 1 by a motor 30 via worm gears 29 and transmission rods 28. One wall 24 of the housing is wedge shaped and a wedge 25 is adjustably secured to the other wall. Each housing 24<SP>1</SP> has an inclined face (31), Fig. 5, not shown, which engages a wedge 33 disposed at right angles to the wedges 24, 25 so that vertical adjustment of the housings varies the cutting clearance between the blades 2 and 3 and between the blades 11 and 12. The wedge 33 is also vertically adjustable.
