1450148 Boxes formed from blanks BRETTSIL PACKAGING Ltd 23 Aug 1974 [6 Sept 1973] 42054/73 Heading B8P A box has a bottom part and a lid; the bottom part including a side wall which can be folded back from its normal position, perpendicular to the base wall of the bottom part, to a position coplanar with the base wall so that the lid may be placed on the bottom part with said side wall projecting outwardly; said side wall having an aperture formed therein whereby in the latter position it forms a carrying handle for the box. Using the blank shown to form such a box in the carrying position, sides 4 and 5 are. formed by panels 30 and 29 folded about line 31; gussets 9 fold inwards across panel 13 of end wall 2, panel 14 being folded inwards about line 15 to lie against panel 13, and flap 16 lying against and parallel with the base 1; and flaps 18 are turned inwards such that their edges 19 lie against fold line 8a, the panels designed to form end wall 3 being in this case folded about fold line 15a so that 14a and 13a lie coplanar with the base 1 and flap 16a extends upwards perpendicular to the base to form an end wall of the bottom part of the box, secured in this position by interlocking slots 23 thereof with slots 22 of flaps 18. The lid may then be placed on the box; the combined apertures 25 forming a handle therefor. Flaps 27 when extended inwards may serve to secure goods within the box, and arcuate cuts 26 may provide frictional gripping means for the lid, which may be separate from or hinged to the bottom part of the box. The box may be hexagonal.
