Abstract

1450021 Rotary fluid-flow meters UNITED GAS INDUSTRIES Ltd 3 Oct 1973 [4 Oct 1972] 45649/72 Heading FIT A rotor for a rotary fluid-flow meter comprises dished sheet metal central plate members 11, 12 with axially opposed cylindrical shoulders 15, 16 between which a plurality of plastics blades 20 are clamped by force-fitting plates 11, 12 on to a hub 19 such that the shoulders enter respective curved slots 22 of the roots of the blades 20. Alternatively, Fig. 3, a central plate 30 can have an annular plate member 31 attached thereto, the blades being clamped between opposed shoulders 35, 32 of the plate 30 and member 31. In a meter incorporating the rotor of Fig. 3, a streamlined housing 62, 63 is mounted in the passage 59, the rotor being located between parts 62, 63 and being fixed to a spindle 70 rotatable in bearings, one bearing being located within the dished part of plate 30 on a closure member 66 for part 63. Gearing 72, 73 transmits rotation to shaft 74 from which the indicator 85 indicates the flow speed via magnetic coupling 79, 81 and a gear system Fig. 6, (not shown).
